# Deals

> Track your sales opportunities by stage, from first contact to close.

A **deal** represents a sales opportunity with a contact or company. Deals help you keep sight of what's at stake.

## How they work

Each deal advances through **stages** —for example, “New”, “In proposal”, “Negotiation”, “Won” or “Lost”—. You move the deal from one stage to another as it progresses.
