# Contacts

> One profile per customer, with all their channels unified.

Every person who writes to you has a **contact**: their profile inside ApyConnect. There you can see who they are, how to reach them and their entire history with you.

## One customer, all their channels

If the same person messages you on WhatsApp today and on Instagram tomorrow, they're not two strangers: they're **a single contact** with their two channels unified. That way you see the full conversation in one place, no matter where it came from.

<Info>
  Each inbox shows threads by contact: you recognize the customer even when they switch channels, but each channel keeps its own conversation.
</Info>

## Merge duplicates

Sometimes the same customer ends up as two contacts (for example, they first came in by phone and later by email). ApyConnect **suggests possible duplicates** and you can **merge** them into one, choosing which one stays as the primary. The history is preserved.
