# Custom fields

> Store the information your business needs about each contact or company.

Every business stores different data about its customers. **Custom fields** let you add the information ApyConnect doesn't include out of the box.

## Examples

* Customer or policy number.
* City, contracted plan, anniversary date.
* Any data you use to serve or segment.

## How they're used

You define your fields once and then fill them in on each contact or company. Afterward you can **filter** and **segment** by them. See [Segments](/en/crm/segmentos).
